I will dominate 'serious boxer' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua will face Jake Paul in an eight-round match which will be streamed live on the streaming platform.

Briton Anthony Joshua said he will "overwhelm entirely" Jake Paul and "overpower" his opponent as the two fighters confronted each other to promote the upcoming heavyweight fight.

Former two-time unified boxing king Joshua battles social media star turned fighter Jake Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a huge mismatch - at Miami arena on 19 December.

Boxer's Attitude

"I will break his face and break his body up. My goal is to show I'm the better fighter," Joshua, 35, stated.

"I will dominate him completely. That's the boxer's mindset.

"I intend to seriously aim to injure him. That's what I want to do."

Respectful Interaction

Despite those words, a relaxed Joshua and social media star Paul - typically recognized for his theatrics - were respectful and kept it respectful with each other.

Jake Paul instead attacked ex Joshua's rival Francis Ngannou and called him "not serious" after Ngannou declined a match opportunity.

Targeting Fury

Anthony Joshua, meanwhile, targeted UK opponent Fury - and rejected a £1m bet 'The Gypsy King' states he will put on a Paul victory.

"[Paul] is superior to Fury - he's actually sitting here," Joshua stated.

"I respect him for that."

Serious Opponent

Despite stating he plans to punish Paul, Joshua chose not to comment unfavorably about his rival's pugilistic talent.

"Jake Paul is a serious fighter," he stated.

Paul's Background

Jake Paul - who originally gained popularity on the Disney Channel - has mostly boxed MMA fighters or declining opponents since turning professional.

He lost to Briton Fury in 2023.

Commercial Success

However, the relative newcomer is still one of the sport's largest money-making draws, consistently making huge financial rewards.

Prediction and Confidence

The 28-year-old anticipated a KO victory in the fourth or fifth round and stated he would stop the highly-expected match between Joshua and Fury, which is reportedly in the works for two years from now.

"The next fight will be myself against Tyson Fury next year," Paul declared.

Size Disparity

As Joshua and Paul engaged in the customary face-off, with their physical disparity on show, it drove home just how unlikely this entire matchup is - and how remarkable it is that the bout is really happening.
