19 of Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard courts

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his initial title for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has experienced a difficult season, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in specific - caused him falling of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-time coach his previous coach.

Presently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually improved in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.

It is the player's initial trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt since spring of 2023.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one various tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my both daughters at once, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six finals, including in that event earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and recurring emotional displays on court had led observers to doubt if his capacity to play at the elite level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and play aggressively, supported by an improved serve.

The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult opponent, taking four of the concluding five games to take the lead.

The competitors traded service breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his initial professional victory, seized the initiative to force a third set.

Moutet rescued four initial chances in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev earned the win with a rally at the net area, with his opponent unable to control a return after over two and a half hours.
